Question: If I already have RobotC for Vex installed, do I have to download RobotC for Lego Mindstorms, or can I just add the license?
Answer: You can add a license, then select which platform you want to use in ROBOTC. Please check out www.robotc.net for more details.

Question: For the Sensors Mini Challenge (Orientation Engineer) the directions are not very clear to me. The diagram has starting point A, but includes two other points B & C. However, the challenge requires a 90 degree right turn. Please clarify the instructions. I keep getting a message that I did not make it to the target.
Answer: Throughout the curriculums, only Mini Challenges are required to be completed (challenges where you see the achievements to the left). Try Its are more experimental, usually a play-test environment following the video. In virtual worlds, the diagrams with those A, B, and C markers are starting points.

Question: Is it possible to download the sessions and view them off-line?...If so, how? Also, and in the same line of thought, may I use the training 'games' off-line? Thanks
Answer: You could try downloading WebEX (https://www.webex.com/play-webex-recording.html), which gives you the ability to download the video sessions. As for the RVW games, those could be downloaded and played offline. However, to earn credit to badges and achievements, an internet access is required.

Question: First I want to say thank you for offering this training. I am a teacher that runs a VEX Club after school and a leader of a first ever VEX IQ 4H Club in CT. I am new to VEX. I have been doing EV3 before not using Robot C. I have been following the recorded trainings then using the knowledge you shared with my 4H Club. I appreciate your help. Just a few questions: 1. Is the Robotic Virtual World free for 90 days or 10 days? 2. Is there a Robotic Virtual World competition that uses Ring Master? (Meaning competes with others across the world. Could this be another way for a the club to compete and/or practice.) 3.Programming -When you put a negative power or a negative rotation does that mean backwards and/or opposite direction? 4. On physical robot - how do you stop a motor from what we call "ghosting" or after put the controller down, it keeps moving? We are really struggling with this. 5. On physical robot - does the amount of power in a battery affect the distance a robot if you are programming in seconds and also rotations? Thank you for everything you have done. Being new to VEX myself and coaching a VEX Team is scary but a great challenge. Sincerely, Rachael Manzer
Answer: 1. Robot Virtual Worlds is not free. We don't own nor control any of it. We are partners with team that owns it. Hence the free 90 day trial day key, just for Summer of Learning. The 10 day trial is most like what you get when you just download their software. 2. There is a competition for Ringmaster, using Robot Virtual Worlds. The details can be found here: http://cs2n.org/competitions/viqringmaster 3. It's common to assume negative values as "backwards" or "opposite", but ultimately depends on which command you use it with. For example, setMultipleMotors(-50) and backward(50). Moves the robot backwards, at the same exact speed, but different numbers. 4. There is actually a badge on CS2N, name "VEX IQ - Direct Control" that goes into extensive details on how to control a VEX IQ with a remote control. That could provide you with more information :) 5. Battery levels would greatly affect robot that relies on time when in motion. Consider using motor encoder counts or sensors for turning, especially the Gyro. There are loads of materials provides on CS2N right now, and for free!

Question: For Ringmaster virtual competition, can you design your own robot, or do you have to use the clawbot.
Answer: Unfortunately the only robots that can be used for Ringmaster are the ones available in the RVW. The game, more or less, is used as a strategy planning and trying out the challenge.

Question: I'm in the summer Robot C Vex class. I've been using the graphical robot C. Can I build functions in graphical robot C? The golf course mowing project would be slightly cleaner with a turn right and turn left function, Also, Is there any way to make the default view the top down, instead of the robot perspective?
Answer: It is highly recommended that you migrate to ROBOTC Text if you want to create functions. You can easily convert your current Graphical files into Text-based, all in the same application. Simply go to View, then select "Convert Graphical File to Text", then you can start editing as a text file. However, you can't go back to Graphical after you convert to text. As for the camera, unfortunately it defaults to Camera 1.

Question: I don't have the EV3 software, how can I complete the mini-challenges? My hardware isn't scheduled for delivery until after school starts in the fall. Thanks TL
Answer: Unfortunately, you still need the EV3-G programming software, along with the virtual brick in order to complete any mini-challenges.

Medium motor block will activate, shows NXT on the screen. Any Ideas?• Jul 12, 2017
Question: Medium motor block will activate, shows NXT on the screen. Any Ideas?
Answer: When downloading and installing Virtual Brick from RobotVirtualWorlds.com, it usually installs two folders. A Virtual Brick and Virtual NXT. To use EV3, you will want to use the Virtual Brick. If you are able to use a 'medium motor block', it means that you are using the Virtual NXT, not the Virtual Brick.

Question: Hi. My robotics club who are doing the Virtual Robots are having trouble loading artifacts. How do you load up artifacts? Thank you.
Answer: Artifacts are your program code that you upload to CS-STEM. This is basically proof that you've completed the mini challenges/challenges. Most badges will have an artifact requirement. To upload, just click on "+ New Artifact" and find your file to upload.

Question: I have completed the Mini Challenge: Track Line for Rotations (End of the Line). However, I have not received credit for the assignment. The virtual brick states that I have not reach the target, but the EV3 programming software shows that I have reached 4.03 rotations. I can view the rotations using the port view tab in the lower right corner of the screen. When the program finishes the port view shows the rotations traveled. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks TL
Answer: Something about Robot Virtual Worlds is that sometimes levels have slightly adjustments that makes being precise can register an error or incomplete. We are working to minimizing those problems, but for the meantime, try compensate values by increasing or decreasing them.

Question: I am working on the VEX IQ Sensors badge. I uploaded the code for the Maze Challenge when I completed it. Now I want to upload code for the Golf course and Traffic Light challenge and am not seeing the ability to do it. Moving forward should I wait and upload all code at the same time?
Answer: You should be able to upload code at any time. On the Artifacts requirement page, the "+ New Artifact" should always be available.
